DALE ELMER POIER
(1954 – 2014)
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dale Elmer Poier who lost his brief but courageous battle with cancer. Dale passed away at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, on February 18, 2014, at the age of 60, with his family by his side. Dale was born on January 5, 1954, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, and grew up with a love of sports – especially the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Toronto Blue Jays – and a strong work ethic. His passions included his love for his work at PA Fine Foods, his family and close friends, his co-workers, and his cat, Paris. Dale loved to spend his free time taking care of his yard and garden, watching his favourite sports teams, and making plans to retire to his grass hut in Fiji. His compassionate and caring nature always left a positive and lasting first impression. Dale always took pride in his passion and dedication to the things he loved. Dale is lovingly remembered by his mother, Marveline Poier of Regina, SK; his wife Twila Jack, of Prince Albert; his three children, Erin (Scott) Thomsen of Regina, SK, Nicole Poier, of Saskatoon, SK, and Curtis (Stacey) Poier, of Red Deer, AB; his grandchildren Haley Poier, Colton and Parker Thomsen, Kiefer and Ziva Poier; his three brothers James (Susan) Poier of Regina, SK, Bruce Poier of Calgary, AB, and Gary (Darlene) Poier of Crossfields, AB; as well as numerous extended family members and close friends. Dale is predeceased by his father Elmer John Poier (2006). A gathering to celebrate Dale will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22 at River Park Memorial Chapel, 301 River Street West, Prince Albert – friends are asked to use the South entrance. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, www.cancer.ca Condolences for the family may be offered online at www.riverparkfuneral.ca Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Donald M.
