Sister Ida-Marie was born in Notre-Dame-Richelieu (Rouville) P.Q. In 1938 she joined the Order of the Sisters of the Presentation and began her studies in Saint Hyacinthe, QC. Since there was a great need for French teachers out West, Sister Ida-Marie arrived in Duck Lake, SK in 1941, just a few months after her religious profession. For seventy years, with much success, Sister Ida-Marie devoted her years to teaching French in Duck Lake, Debden, Marcelin, Academy Presentation of Mary, in Laurier and St. Lazare, Manitoba. From 1985-1995, she offered her services to our Sisters in Exeter, England with the hope she would learn to speak English more fluently. She helped in different tasks wherever it was needed, one of these being a librarian. After a career that spanned fifty years, Sister Ida-Marie moved to the Provincial House in Prince Albert. Throughout her retirement years, Sister Ida-Marie never really stopped teaching French to high school students and adults. She also kept herself busy being a receptionist, doing book binding, preparing children for receiving the sacraments.
